Description Mexico – Vintage Illustrated Poster
A powerful and symbolically rich vertical illustration that tells the pre-Columbian roots and cultural identity of Mexico with warm and enveloping tones.
🟢 Upper part:
The composition opens with the Mexican national flag , easily recognizable in its three vertical bands: green, white and red.
In the centre stands the emblem of the Aztec coat of arms : the golden eagle grasping a serpent on a cactus, the mythical symbol of the foundation of Tenochtitlán (now Mexico City).
🏛 Central part:
The scene is dominated by the monumental ruins of a Mayan pyramid , similar to Chichén Itzá , with central staircases in perspective.
On the left, a woman in a traditional white dress with a red belt looks up; on the right, a man in pre-Hispanic ceremonial clothing with a feathered headdress and bracelets, in a hieratic pose.
Behind them, the jungle merges with the sky.
🪨 Lower part:
In the foreground on the right stands a colossal Olmec head , carved from stone, symbolizing the enigmatic Mesoamerican parent civilization.
All around, tropical vegetation with broad leaves and exotic plants , which complete the lush setting.
🎨 Color Palette:
-
Warm tones: ochre, terracotta, forest green, deep red, cream
-
Light shadows to give depth
-
Contrast between spirituality and visual strength
